Wattson universal power transducer?

I have a wattson universal transducer that was originally setup to monitor the power output of my wind turbine and stream it over the net.  I hooked up the RS485 output to a rs485 to serial converter but I can not get it to communicate with my computer.  When i use the Elkor / wattson software it says i have no comm.   Is anyone familiar with these units?
