Can anyone explain the purpose of the sliding element circled in the picture of this S195 injector pump?
I think it's the part that Bob advised to be careful of.
Is this the part that must fit into the governor arm?

The little ball on the end fits in slot of the Governing-Fork. Look in where the injector goes and you will see the slot on the Governing fork. If you are not sure, move the lever with the shaft that goes in the gear case cover that the governer spring mounts to.

Thanks Henry,

At first glance, I could not see the governor fork, so I used a flashlight to look in-and-up.
I did not see it at first because the spring pulls the lever off to one side.
I made a small tool to hold the lever in the center position during pump installation.

Thanks for the tip!

Hey guys,

What about the threaded adjuster that contacts the governor fork. (See picture)
What's it used for and what's the procedure for adjustment?
(My manual is useless !)

When you fire it up be ready to shut it down just in case you have a run away.
The best way is to hold the compression release on until it stops rotating.

I removed the threaded adjuster an looked inside. The ball is properly engaged with the governor arm.

That is a fuel limiter, probably best if left unchanged.
Never met a diesel engine I didnt like.

Fuel limiter ?  Hmmmm.....
Please elaborate. What does it do? and (if necessary) how should it be adjusted.?

It is there just in case there is a possibility of driving more than the S195 engine is rated for. Like Bob and I do ;D

Please explain....what's it for ?

When I  pull over 8400 watts out of an S195 I am working the engine over it's rating.

The fuel rack limiter is there to prevent this. It limits the travel of the fuel rack.

The Engine is rated for 12 horsepower and the manufacture puts the limiter on to prevent the engine from going over its rating.

So if I understand you correctly, I could screw this thing in nearly all the way and limit my slow speed changfa test unit to 1000 rpm? correct ??

Personaly I would not mess with it.

But if you want to try messing with it I would try setting it up by running your engine at your required operating speed. Then loading the engine up untill it just starts putting out black smoke and limit the setting there.

Ok.... so you can mess with it when you try to blow up your engine ;D, but I should not play with it when I want to restrict my top speed ? That just not fair Henry.
What happened to the spirit of experimentation ?
I'm telling bob !  >:(

My engines did not come with limiter's. I guess you must have a missfit. ;D

Hell just take it off and run it and see what it can do. Load that baby up!!! :o

Don't worry what the neighbors say. You won't be able to hear them anyway.
