Field terminals on 110-555 jho

Can anyone tell me which of the field terminals on the 555 is the negative?  I've removed the regulator, but there are no markings.  I don't have access to a battery and drive to determine this dynamically at the moment.

unless you plan on using the oem regulator, it makes no difference which is negative and which is positive

in other words if you are using another controller, you can connect it either way.

if on the other hand you plan on using the oem regulator in conjunction with another controller (which some can be, but i wouldn't do it)
then  you will have to check with the unit running because i really don't know which is which under oem connections.
