Hello Group.

It seems that JohnF's Laidong 1115 are in  ;D (just need to cobble-up some more funds  :()

Question: I have a ST10 head that I was planing to use in direct drive with the 1115. If running at 1800 RPM, is my head too small? (insert joke here).

Assuming that these are 20HP running at 2200 RPM, am I OK?

Cheers,

Rich

Hi Rich,

JohnF and I chatted about them a while back and the Laidong single cylinder and three cylinder engines are high quality engines. I heard the 3 cylinder engines are being used in the North America contentent by armed forces. So that means they must be pretty good engines. I am glad he JohnF is able to get some in.

I need to put a Laidong 1115 on my wish list.

I don't think you will have any problems producing 10Kw @ 1800 rpm with an Laidong 1115. The thing I would do to protect the ST-10 is limit the output by fusing it to 40amps @ 240 volts.

OneBarFly;

  IF the torque is the same at 1800 rpm as it is at 2200 rpm, and really it should be slightly more, the engine SHOULD give you 16 HP/ 14.9 kW at 1800.  That should be more than enough to account for the drive losses, heat, etc. and still let you derate it a little for longevity.

  Hope this helped!
