Well the meter just quit on the ST-12 gen-head this afternoon. The Doghouse is a POS. Time to look for a replacement box for wires. Would like to hear what others used or are thinking of using.

Henry:

i am planning on useing a 10x10x3 inch junction box,
figure on cutting a hole in the back, drilling mount holes
and screwing it down.

why this big a box?  because i have one and i am thinking of putting in
two large junction strips inside to do all the interconnections and because
i am considering splitting all the poles and bringing them out seperately

that makes for about 12 wires total i believe, so i want room to work in
easily. it will also provide room for a better rectifier, perhaps i relay or two
and other stuff that i might like to add later like temp sensor wires.

anyway that is what i have in mind, and what i have on hand to do it with.

That is in line of what I am thinking of. It will make life easier. Solid junction strips are the way to go.

Henry;

Have a look at my website "www.woodnstuff.ca" there is an article there on swapping out the doghouse.  I've gone to a 12 x 12 x 3 box for my stuff, so much more room and easier to work with.

xyzer,

Very nice arrangement. Simple and tidy.

I used a die cast aluminum box that was just big enough to cover the hole on my ST3, with a flexible conduit attachment much like Dave's.

Your welcome, By the way, I paid $32.00 us for a 60 amp terminal block like this about a year & a half ago, from a local supplier, so thats a great price.
