Yanmar/Kubota singles?

That's it, I've given up on third world clone engines unless we get back to a place where they are dirt cheap again. (not likely)

Every once in a while on craigslist or something I'll see a REAL Yanmar or Kubota single cylinder that looks a lot like the Changfas. On the other hand I haven't actually seen them for sale new anywhere.

For example, Kubota shows their "EA series" engines as being tier 4 compliant.

Looks like a changfa to me. I know Yanmar makes something similar. Where in the world might somebody buy one of those, and how much do they cost? Google can't find anything more than copies of the Kubota literature.
Do engines get rewarded for their steam?

As they say, if you have to ask, it's probably too much..... :(

Yanmar are also used on large tillers, you don't see them here very often but I just posted in this thread one I found in Oregon.
Yeah, I saw that...definately putting it into consideration, though I'd like an engine with a bit more power.

Does Yanmar still make those engines? I can't find any "official" information about them. What equipment uses the Kubota singles? Kubota obviously spent a lot of effort to get it EPA approved....

I'm not sure that the Kubota you speak of is available or is it Tier 4.. the doc properties for that PDF are 2008. I know I looked at them in 2004 and the dealer said the only thing left was what was in the pipeline, and due to emissions requirements they weren't being produced anymore. I'm pretty sure that Yanmar hasn't produced their model since the early 80's.

Hmmm...that is odd. This PDF
http://www.kubotaengine.com/products/pdf_en/01_ea330_e3.pdf
says Tier 4 compliant all over it, and also says
"The Kubota EA330 engine complies with EPA Tier 4 emissions regulations. These are the most stringent emissions regulations in the world in this class."
"This engine offers a seamless transition from Tier 2 to Tier 4 by entirely maintaining the same performance
and physical characteristics of the previous Tier 2 engines."
The pics in the PDF look like a modernized changfa to me.
Even further, that website calls itself "Kubota Engines America".

What year did the T4 requirements take effect?

Even if they do not currently meet EPA specs, surely there should be some old "pre ban" engines in the US?! I've never seen anything with that engine though....it's always a Yanmar or a clone.

Is that Yanmar rototiller from the early 80s? It looks newer than that to me...

I suppose in the end if would probably be cheaper/easier to find a Kubota twin....

Hi,

Yanmar continue to produce the TF and TS series in their Indonesia plant. They have another JV in Vietnam producing the older TS series brand as Vinappro.

Meanwhile Kubota work with the same JV producing Vinappro but brand it as Vikyno.

The Vikyno that i see frequently in Asean countries seems to be far better built than the QC put in for Vinappro.
