According to this, my 6/1 should have a pintle injector.

Am I wrong or...?

Not sure but I believe the injector is a hole type.

I was planing to take mine apart as I have bought 2 complete spares and have had to install a fresh one. The use of waste motor oil has messed up my original injector at about 1350 hours.

Have you ever removed the injector and placed it flat on the head and reconnected the pressure line then rolled the motor to test the pattern? The hole is off at an angle and is so small I cannot even see it.

By the film clip the pintle would have to be direct up the center and mine are not.

I am not familiar with the terminoligy and the sound card is out of my 'puter here at work so I cannot listen to the video but I am going through a 6/1 at this time and my son just got done rebuilding the injector for me. Your 6/1 assuming it is a standard CS or CS type head should have and injector with just one hole and it points off at an odd angle, about 45 degrees. The proper nozzles and bodies have locating pins so the nozzle cannot be installed wrong and point the wrong direction. I can post a picture tonight if it would help.

My engine has the hole type, so i guess it is right.

I got confuesed because the film states that precup engines mainly has pintle nozzels.

pintle is the little jobbie that lifts when the injection pressure gets high enough thus admitting the high pressure fuel
to move down through the nozzle
the nozzle can have one or many holes in it, depending on design and application.

a precup engine can tolerate a less than perfect injector pattern, whereas a di engine must have a nice well defined pattern
with not slobbering or drip.

have you pop tested you old injector? if not you might wanna get it tested and adjusted
it might then go back to acceptable operation
