Busy, busy, busy up here...

Shopvac is pointed south to help bring cooler air down from Lake Superior - doesn't seem to be helping though...  :D

Piping and wiring run to the "Folly", finally - I just need to finish up all of the niggly little details like hooking everything up to their final destinations.

Health has not been good - I've spent over a month in bed.
Could be worse, I suppose.  :)

I was up to the Buckley Engine fair Sunday - More old running engines of every type than you can shake a stick at.

The jobs situation here in Michigan is very, very dismal. The local newspaper from a small town where my daughter lives in had two full pages of foreclosures on properties.
Likely they were mostly vacation cabins, but still...

I was afraid Jens would have a stroke if I suggested his doing this to his dear Thumper ;D
Ron

LOL !!!!!

Now that's funny !!!!

But then we'd have this big discussion on how to remove ash from cast iron.  ;D

Great discussion...

I lead a very sheltered life.  :)

Thanks, bob g !

I was wondering how gunpowder and plots against the English government worked it way into CHP...  :)

Wow, you actually cool your swamps over there ?

We'd try that out here, but I'm sure the mosquitoes, black fly's and  gnats would plug up the works of any cooler.

Lucky bum !

Cool swamps, what will they think of next ?

ya, and if you can see the garage floor,  you would just have to sweep it!

:)

bob g

I recently had that problem - then it took me a couple of hours to find the broom and dustpan!

and you guys think you have problems...

I just had a X-ray Florescence  Spectrophotometer dropped off at my CHP room.
It only needs a little work and some liquid N2 and a new computer and the detector pumped down and sealed, etc, etc, etc...
It's to go with the two gas chromatagraphs, purge and trap unit, mass selective detector and on-site autosampler I have my my storage unit. (I guess)

You should be imagining me standing on the corner of our country road holding a sign that says "will do lab instrumentation work for food" sign...

You are Slackers all  ;D

Anyone want to come over and help me install new shelves in my polebarn ???

Wonderful story, Ian !

There is a guy out our way who fixes anything you bring to him (we're all farmers out where I live.)
I've seen him do many things like you've just described - I've learned a lot from him.
He's made an excellent living for many years doing repairs for the locals.

It's wonderful that folks like that still exist in this world !

It must be catching !

Just this week I managed to catch a glimpse of my floor, and then even cleared a path around the inside of the shop.
I'm *very* proud of this milestone as I haven't seen the floor since the CHP project started.  ;D

I think I must go off and check my temperature, as sudden attacked of neat may be indicative of something more serious...

I'm interested in how you hooked up the auto thermostat into your thermosyphon cooling system.

Sounds like a nice setup, somewhat like mine.

When the Zombie Apocalypse comes this will all seem meaningless......

I'm sort of hoping that it will happen - it gets kind of boring out here in the sticks...
Hand me another quart of espresso, will ya ?

Like I tell everyone. Stock up on ammo, get a diesel generator and store a small amount of canned food! It's not a crazy idea, just cheap insurance!

Randy B

That's the way everyone used to be out in the rural areas !
There are still *lots* of folks out here who do that still.  ;D
Just like that country-western song: Country boys can survive.

The powers-that-be have a vested interest in keeping the cows contented and milking them for all they're worth.
That means that the bread and circuses must continue, no matter what.
I don't see anything sudden and awful happening unless a comet hits the earth or something. (fat chance, really...)

I don't see anyone on this group starving or freezing to death, etc. due to a bump in the economy or an oil price jump.
Have faith in your ability to adapt to changes, prepare a little and country boys will survive !
