Changfa/Redstone/Chinese diesels / 1115 Changfas
April 01, 2011, 11:04:53 AM
New engines are are still out there, you just have to find them and then convince the owner to sell.  Here are some brand new 1115's located in the midwest.  Ain't they pretty!  I know the owner and he is not selling them - yet.

We are starting to finally have some warmer days so Its time to start on the Witte diesel 12 hp model MD dieselectric plant.   This engine has been in storage since the mid 80's in a building in central Indiana when I purchased it last fall.  It has not been run for over 25 years.

I brought it back here to IL and it has sat in my garage all winter.  I have started to check it over to see what it may need before it is operated.  I do know that it does need to have new valve guides or the present ones sleeved or lined.

Today I found out that my Witte has walnuts and acorns in the water jacket.  I knew there was some stuff in the water jacket when I looked in the water inlet and outlets with a flashlight.  When this engine was in storage the water inlet and outlet were not sealed or plugged.  This allowed the mice to make a nest in the water jacket.

I removed the head today and cleaned out the acorns, walnuts and nesting material.  This stuff was removed through the water jacket openings in the end of the cylinder block after the head was removed.  There is still more to clean out.

Parts Source / Chinese Diesel Engine Parts
March 01, 2011, 09:51:08 PM
Nearly any part for the Chinese diesel engines can be ordered from this contact in Canada.   He takes paypal as well as Visa and Mastercard.

Have your information ready when you call or email.  You should provide the engine brand name, model, and part number from your manual.

He can help you even if you do not have a parts manual and parts number,  it just takes a lot longer without part numbers.

His name is Kim,  the phone number is 1 888 909 5300

His email address is pgsaw@shaw.ca

This is a small Farymann air cooled diesel that was given to me.  I believe it had a gen head attached at one time. It  has good compression, missing the air cleaner cup.  I will see if it will run and if doesn't I will just scrap it.  Its heavy for a small engine.
The owner said he didn't like it because it was made in Germany and was metric.

There is a large estate auction here in Illinois next weekend.  Listed are some real Listers and many others, a lifetime of collecting going on the auction block.

Should anyone care to read the sale bill and view the many photos go to www.auctionzip.com, enter auctioneer ID# 14498 at the top right, click on Helmuth estate to view photos and sale bill.

I'm not going, it would be very expensive for me if I did go.

Witte diesel and gas engines / Witte Dieselelectric 12HP
September 18, 2010, 11:25:10 AM
I might as well just fess up right now, I'm the person who just bought the 12HP Witte on ebay a couple of days ago.  I have been looking into finding a decent one for a couple of years.  Most of the ones I have looked into had a problem of some sort or were missing parts and needed work.

The complete history is known on the one I just bought, it has spent its entire life in central Indiana.  I bought it because its close and I can pick it up and not have any shipping to pay.  Its about a 5 hour drive to pick it up.  I have made arrangements with the seller for storage until I have time to pick it up.

According to the serial number this engine was built in 1942, information on the Witte can be found at www.popengines.com

It has been overhauled by a proffesional diesel mechanic like Bob g over twenty years ago.  It has been used very little since and has been in storage for over ten years.  All the work and expense has already been done on this engine.

I have found someone on the west coast who will import chinese diesel engine parts if there is enough interest.

At this time he DOES have some common parts in stock for the 195 & 1100 engines, mainly rings, pistons, gaskets and bearings. Are you listening vdubnut (1100 engine).

He needs to know if its wothwhile to order parts.  If you need or want to order any parts please reply.  At this time all I need to know is how much interest there is in a parts order. How many of you guys will want to order?

He has ordered parts for me several years ago, it usually takes about 6 weeks.

The Redstone RS115 engine and utterpower 6kw PMG. This genset will be located outdoors in an enclosure.

The engine has already been disassembled, crankcase and other parts painted with Glyptal,  clearances checked and adjusted, reassembled and test operated.

The Redstone is rated at 22 hp @ 1500 rpm.  If anyone cares to see what the inside of the Redstone engine looks like I can post some pix.

Here is my just completed frame for the Perkins 402C mini diesel.  It is 22 x 29 inches, about 20 pieces and weighs 73 pounds.  The engine will drive a short shaft with pillow block bearings and pulley so there will be no side loading on the engine crankshaft.

Standoffs for the pillows are adjustable for the proper height and made from 1 1/2" x 1/4" angle, mounting plate for head is hinged with commercial grade heavy door hinges.

If anyone is looking for a muffler for the Perkins 402, Cat c 05 or Shibaura mini diesel engines they can be found on ebay.  This would be the type muffler with the 2 1/4" square mounting flange bolt pattern.  Mine arrived today and it is a very well made heavy little muffler.

This is the same muffler used on the the cub cadets with cat engines.  If you look on ebay look for - muffler caterpillar diesel cub cadet. You may also check at your local cub cadet dealer.

If you want to check on ebay now look up item number 200431999162, $35 plus shipping.

Changfa/Redstone/Chinese diesels / Chinese diesel parts
January 11, 2010, 09:39:31 PM
A source for some chinese horizontal diesel engine parts can be found on ebay.  The easiest way is to do a search and use ONLY the word Changfa.

Click on these items that show up under changfa and visit and search their ebay store.  There is a seller that always has changfa parts for sale.  His prices are high.  Many changfa parts also fit most other brands, the only thing different is the brand name.

Changfa S195M IDI head gasket from parts kit supplied with new engine.  This gasket is identical to the Changchai S1100A2NM IDI head gasket.  All the head gaskets I have listed are from spare parts kits supplied with new engines.

I can only assume they are the correct ones until I have to change a head gasket on the engines listed, then I will know for certain.

I do know the Redstone gasket is the correct one for that engine as I have had it apart already.
