Power Out time of the year

Lost power today 
Got the old 25/2 ST12 uncovered (dust cover and small heater to prevent freeze damage).
Opened up the crankcase door, checked the oil level and general check-up, plus squirted oil on the rod and main bearings. Bolted on the cover. topped up the water. Primed the oil pump. Hit the starter and rolled it over for a while, then lit it off.
Powered up the house for all of a half hour, and noticed the neighbors lights were back on! 
Well, I needed to excersize the old girl anyway! 
For those of you that just keep a generator for standby, be sure to check it out and run it periodically.
