i thought maybe we had a copy of this or something similar, but didn't take time to look for it.

just ran across this a week or so back and thought, "hey this might be useful" for someone, sometime or another.

what i am looking for, (not very hard so far anyway) is a breakdown or parts diagram of one of the niehoff 24v 400 amp
alternators such as used by the military and on coach/bus applications.

i am pretty sure they are dual stator, and brushless

if so i think one might be reworked to split the stators, and separately rectify each then add them in series for 48 volt applications, and it might be that they can be applied like i have the 110-555jho prestolite/leeceneville alternators.

their physical size makes me wonder if they could approach 85% efficiency or maybe a bit better.

having about 25-30kwatt of 48volt nominal pure sine wave inverters sitting idle in a rack, has always had in the back of my mind to research a high efficiency charging alternator to be able to use them.

not that i would every need that kind of capacity!
