48VDC Alternators yet again: Some China options?

Hi All,

A good friend of mine is over in Shanghai. I have been looking for a reasonably priced 48V alt in the 100 amp range. Alibaba has all kinds of 'em but they have big minimums. I'm thinking I could get my friend to track me down a single, or possibly a few. Here are some I have located, what do you guys think? Or has someone been holding out with a US supplier?

Looking at the Leeve Neville web site for this alternator: http://www.prestolite.com/pgs_products/specs.php?item_detail_id=26193&item=A0014417JB&product=ALTERNATOR it looks like this alternator is sold by John Deer under their part#TCA51161  as well as by Balmar under the part #97 EHD-90-48.

Perhaps for one-off parts you could locate a reman of the alternator under one of those?  Might be not too much more costly then getting one shipped over from Asia?

Ahhh, that is a good possibilty. Very expensive but hey.
