i like it!

years ago i setup a fast idle for an engine driven compressor on my service truck
i use ported vacuum and an air switch to trip the engine to 2000rpm when the compressor kicked on
and back to idle when the compressor kicked off.

it was more than adequate for my needs at the time.

I wonder if this principal could be made sensitive enough for a generator?

I think the change in temperature and humidity and will effect the engines rpm's. At higher elevations it would need to be adjusted differently than being at sea level.
