Kubota is Japanese but some of the engines are being produced at Kubota's plant in china. It sure looks like fun though.

It is but lots of their designs are copied by the chinese and are familiar to people here using them for generators.
I thought Japanese Horizontal wouldn't be as recognised in the title.

Lots of engine manufacture designs been copied in China. Another thing, lots of engine manufactures opened plants in China to take advantage of lower manufacturing costs. I don't like this way of business but the manufactures allow it. So, a question is, what can be done about it? Another thing. These plants that are state of the art and are licensed in producing engines with Kubota and Yanmar names. They are held to very high standards by the manufacture and the engines are very high quality.

Hey, One-lunger, Diesel, Mud.    Man, just can not get better than that.

Somewhat reminds me of the Mud-O-Rama 'racing' we had in the PNW.  But that had V8's and 4 wheels.   But still lots of Mud!

I'd love to know what they do to hot them up?

Obviously turning up the fuel is one thing going by the smoke plumes of the things but I bet there are some other tricks. Bumping compression probably would be an easy one.

Remove the governor, advance injector pump timing, change injector nozzle and pressure, cut valve seats, port, install larger valves, install heavier valve springs, re-profile the cam, modify air intake and filter, get rid of muffler and run a straight pipe, Rev the #%*> out of it, keep it floored and hope it holds together.   LOL

On a serious note: I my guess is they most likely have rules in place. The engines might have to be mostly stock. Some things they might be able to tweak is governor, fuel limiter, injector nozzle and pressure, injector timing, air filter, exhaust pipe. They are sure turning high rpm's at the starting line. I would feel uncomfortable sitting in line with the flywheel spinning those high rpm's.
