I was lucky when I bought my engines they both came with radiators mounted. I think I found a SAE flywheel kit for cheap money locally. Guy has had it sitting in his garage for past 5 years and never used it as it was too costly to repair the engine he intended it for.

I just completed the install of the radiator kit and alternator.
The only things I need to do is purchase a starter, air cleaner kit and muffler.
Once I get these completed I will be ready to lift it up and start measuring for the frame.

It is taking longer than I thought.

Hi RJ,
Are the copper and brass radiators?

Henry

Yes, the units where built for the Military. Everything on them seems to be heavy duty.

I just got your note concerning the SAE housing... I'll PM you about it.

The project is coming along. The deep sump oil pan, radiator, pusher fan, alternator and SAE 5 housing are mounted. I am waiting for new flywheel bolts. Since the other ones are take off's they will get thrown out. Once the bolt's come in it will be time to mount the generator head.

Other items that need to be purchased are:

Two fuel filter assemblys
Engine management controller
Vibration mounts
Starter
Radiator over flow reservoir
Air cleaner assembly
Muffler
Gauges

Items to be made:

Frame
Mounts for engine and generator head
Air cleaner bracket

By the time I am finished building it I might be lucky saving $2,500.00 on the build vs. purchasing one already built.

One thing I don't do is cut corners on using cheaper materials so at least I will not have to worry about things breaking off or coming loose.

The Generator Head is mounted. It was an easy install. Now it is time to start working on the frame.

I will post pictures once the genset is mounted on the trailer.

I will be dragging the steel out tomorrow and start working on it right away.

And you.  ;D

The prints are almost completed. It looks like it will be 42" long X 25-1/2" wide and roughly 36" high without the muffler.

I did not mention what type of frame I am building. My apolagies. It will be a frame that will hold a sub-base fuel tank insert. I have not figured the final tank size. That will be anounced once I get the engine and generator mounted properly.

The Steel was dropped off at the fabrication shop this morning. I will be getting them back Monday and than it is off to the welder. I looks like I will be able to finish fabricating mounting pads once I get the frame back from the welder. The weight of the frame will be aprox 300lbs.

It's off to the welder tomorrow. Once the frame is welded up than I can lower the Genset over the top and get measurmants to fabricate the mounting pads.

The frame is tacked together. The welding will be finished tomorrow.

Once I pick it up from the welder I will take some pictures to post. The next step will be hoisting the genset on top to measure for engine mounting pads.

I got the frame today. I just remembered that my wife took the camera with her and she will not be back till the 9th. ::) I guess you guy's just have to wait a bit longer for updated pictures. My appolagies.
