Crofter

I have heard the sparkies pulling cable refer to it as the horse c_ck! How coarse!

I'm proud to report that we secured the poly twine to the wires with sheep shanks and duct tape.  One of those Kellam's Grips would have been nice but the duct tape was paid for.

It Happened

HELCO (Hawaiian Electric Company) stopped by and installed the grid-tie meter.  It's beautiful.  We only spent about $24,000 to get it.

Now get this.  The snazzy new meter pictured below requires a meter reader to come by and input the three numbers:

Code     03     Total KWHs to pass through the meter each way.  The meter reader taught me that just this morning.

Code     23     Total KWHs supplied by HELCO.

Code     33     Total KWHs supplied to the grid by Camp Aloha.  The inverter generates much more than this but most of it is used up before it gets to the meter.

So you know what this means.  This meter cannot detect the time of day the generation occurs.  So if a generator accidentally got turned on at 5 PM they wouldn't know but that it was PV at 10AM.  The crazy part is that the meter they removed communicated with the mother ship over the grid.  Progress?
