I'm thinking of pulling the R180 off my tractor (replacing w/R170) and mating up the R180 to a ST5.

You think the R180 could handle the ST5 adequately enough? I would have to purchase an ST5.

Suggestions/comments/alternate heads?

the r180 will handle the st5 head well enough, however i don't think you will get 5kwatts out of it though.

iirc the 180 is about what? 7.5hp or so?

it should be good for about 4kwatts before it blows black smoke, i would think, provided it has a decent radiator/fan/pump
installed to keep her cool.

OK, how about a R180 and AB50 (gen head) combo. I'm looking at these and it seems like a viable option.

Pretty much what I have, only went with AB60 so I could pull almost the engine capaacity on one leg.
I like it!
