Those are take off's from the arrow board highway directional signs, the flashing arrow signs they put out in construction sites to move traffic to the left or right. they are the 5LD model engine & only 5 horse power not the "8 to 10 HP" he is stating. They have the later "large oil sump"  & pressurised lubrication to the top end, the early version used oil mist thru the pushrod tube to lube the rocker arms & required them to run at speeds above 1000 rpm to maintain top end oiling. the price is not too bad as they were around $1000.00 to $1200.00  a piece in the 1980's. plus you get the wiring controls, pulleys and alternators to boot. Can't tell if they have electric starters or not the upper right picture looks like what may be a starter on it, if not the price would have been a couple of hundred bucks less.

Those little rascals are OBNOXIOUSLY loud. Plus it sound like 5 pounds of horseshoes rolling down hill in a steel 55 gallon drum.
