Who knows about Lovejoy connectors?

I will be using a Lovejoy connector to connect my 3 cyl Kubota to a 7.5 KW ST head. I calculated my torque needs and according to the Lovejoy site the minimum coupler I need is an "L-110". I will need a 1.125 coupler for one side and a 38 mm for the other. Currently I am looking on ebay for "a deal". My question is can I combine 2 different "L" stlye connectors? For instance, can I  join an L110 with a L225? I think I can because I believe the torque value is more or less based on the type of spyder you use between the 2 couplers. Anyone have some insight.

look at the specs.... some yes you can others no.....all depends on the diameter of the coupler if my memory serves me right

L110 spider is 3.31" OD  L225 spider is 4.98" OD.  The jaws will not line up because of the difference in diameters.  You might get some overlap, but who knows what the torque capability will be.  Just go with the L110's.

Thanks, That's what I'll do. I'm trying to save some money by buying each half seperately from ebay sellers and wasn't sure if L110 and L225 would mesh. I went though the Lovejoy sight a few days ago and calculated my torque loads but never got around to determining if the different "L" connectors would match up.

Those chain couplers are fine with electric motors. I would not use them on any internal combustion engine. They will not protect against shock.

I would look into the ones in the pictures below.
These are designed for shock loads of internal combustion engines.

Check out the links listed below. There are technical data sheets to properly size couplers for your specific service factor. I also spoke to the application engineer for Guardian over a year ago and he was helpful. I felt the prices were reasonable.

Hi Randy,

Make sure you calculate in a service factor before you buy any coupler. A service factor of 1.7 - 2.0 for moderate to heavy continuous loads on your D905 engine should cover your requirements.

Henry, I did add in a service factor. The Lovejoy site had a nice little chart. I also had a good laugh today because I noticed (on my computer screen) that the title of my thread only shows up as "Who knows about love" I'm thinking not many people on this site know about love?... ;)
