some one said what was a good solvent to clean wvo glue out of your injector pump was , but I forgot.
funny how so many projects ,,or old age, makes you forget.
any way , could some one remind me?

ATF is supposed to be good, and so is BioDiesel   Or if you have the pump all apart, acetone is good.

thanks for the info.
I've ran this pump on wvo for about 2000 hours with out any diesel at all .
its always been ran at least every 3 days or so until I got hooked to the grid. total run time on that 6/1 has been app 8000 hrs with only a replacement of a timing gear. all on wvo.
a month ago I got hooked to the grid and haven't ran it sence, so my neighbours son in law came up from texas and wanted to see it run.
the rack was stuck.
I took it off and its soaking in parts cleaner now. I just forgot what I used to clean it with .
I got some acitone, that must of been what I used because parts cleaner aint working very good.
usally only needed to clean every 5 or 6 months as the rack gets really sticky burning wvo.
any way thanks., and George if you are wondering, and read this, I know I owe you pictures and such they will be coming as soon as get things cleaned up and camera ready.
oh and my first power bill =$44. dollars ,,, I can live with that.

I tried a bunch of different stuff when mine gummed up and the only thing that worked well for me was Marvel Mystery oil.

You all have more expertise with engine parts than I do but that purple gallon bottle super cleaner at WalMart sure cleans up my WVO screens and buckets nicely.  It's really nasty stuff that I won't touch without heavy duty rubber gloves, long sleeved shirt and pants on.  I hate to imagine what some of that crap in the eye would feel like.  But it does cut solidified WVO with only a little encouraging.

We used to clean our M-1s in the shower so an injector pump in the kitchen sink isn't really that big of step is it?

The best thing I have found for cleaning off Veg is KOH or Lye. I'm not sure if it would be safe n internal pump parts, it's pretty corrosive.
As long as you were scrubbing the stuff off and not soaking in it I would think it would be OK but I wouldn't leave anything in it.

Getter,

Do you dry your oil before you use it?

I have never had a pump gummed up from WVO with the exception of one engine I accidently poured non processed oil in and then left it in the tank for a few months.
It stopped the pump and I had to clean it but when I got that engine, the pump was gummed up on Diesel.

The WVO crowd say that "wet" oil can cause pitting and erosion in the injector pumps in vehicles but I have found that the far greater threat is that of Polymerisation and bacterial growths especially in the tank and fuel lines.  I got very busy ( and lazy) with my last truck and filtered but didn't dry the WVO. Inside of 6 months I had enough crap coming through the lines to block a small disposable fuel filter every day. Normally I'd get a couple of months on a bad run out of them.
The tank was well polyied up and I used the KOH with an amount of sand, pebbles and gravel to help mechanically clean the tank as I swished it all around and the KOH to dissolve and soften it.

It cleaned up shiny and bright but man that was an effort with a 100 L tank even though I only had about 10 L of solution and material in it.

As you would not be using great amounts of oil in a lister, you might like to try drying the oil to the hot pan test standard and see how you go with it.
I'd also check your fuel tank as if that hasn't been cleaned and you are using a metal tank, it's almost offs on to be gummed right up as well.
