That 60 lb., 28 volt generator run as a motor on 48 VDC makes about 2.5 HP.  That is only enough to propel the ~800 lb vehicle (with driver) at the regulation max 20 MPH allowed for e-assisted bicycles. I needed about 23:1 reduction drive ratio to get the vehicle to move.  I would need to change the motor to a lighter, higher power unit like the ETEK or better for making it a true commuter vehicle.
