Hello,

Does anyone have any experience with this engine. Is it a DI or IDI engine. Manual? The guy I bought it from ( arrived tonight) seems convinced this is a 15 hp engine but the chinese label says 10 hp@2000rpm. I believe the engine is only a couple of years old with no real use. I am thinking is going to be my next project but I have not been able to find any info at all about this engine so my spidey senses are starting tingle thinking maybe this is not a project I want to invest in.

Most 195's are rated 12 - 14HP @2200 rpm
I Suspect your engine is a variant of the 195 series and is not a 15 HP engine.

(The S1100 is rated at 15-16 HP)

I concur with Veggie, I have a NM195 ChangChi that is rated at 11hp @ 2000 rpm. What's the bore and stroke?

My Xing Dong S-1100D is IDI and rated @ 16hp at 2000 rpm by the engine plate.
Ron.

100mm bore x 115 stroke =.903 liter               20:1 compression ratio        weighs 155Kg or about 342 pounds.
This data is from a Chang Chai S-1100A2 manual - I don't have a proprietary one for the  Xing Dong.

People,

Thanks for the feedback.

I have couple more questions. What does the CJ  and LC stand for?
Have any of you ever heard of this particular chanfa clone? Would a generic changfa manual be of any use and if so where would I find such an animal. Finally accepting this engine is rated for 10hp of continuous use what size ST head direct coupled would u recommend?

Cheers

my changfa s195 is an idi engine, rated at 12hp continuous at 2000rpm, 13.2hp one hour rating.
the engine with an enclosed and pressurized cooling system with waterpump and a suitable radiator will pull 8.2Kwatts electrical load from an st 7.5 genhead without smoking from either unit  ;D
btw. the generator is direct driven at 1800rpm, so it can sure produce more than 12 hp. the engine's in my opinion are coolant system limited to 12 hp rather than mechanically limited.

i would expect most 195's either idi or di are going to be approx 12hp continuous.
and i would mate it to an st 7.5 or similar.

Yep, coolant system limited, followed closely by head gasket limited:)
