any good--what is it??

Hi All, first post, I have a kohler electric plant its realy old. the modle # is 500 cem1 (under that is 4042e), ser.# 308885. kw.5 kva.5 ,volts 14,rpm 2400, amp/term 36. Its a dc gen.right??  Any thoughs on using it for hydro power? over all a good plant or use it for a door stop? Thanks Bill
