Westerbeke 7.7 WMD

Hey all,
I recently acquired a Westerbeke 7.7 WMD that even though it is an older unit it is low hours ( 1100) and has been well taken care of.

I got it started and it runs very nice. My plan is to remove all the marine gear and turn it into a "land based unit". It has a nice little 3cyl diesel engine.
The gen head looks like all the field coils are shorted to ground. The rest checks fine. I was told the fields could be rewound. Anyone know of a lead on who does this ??

Am I better off coupling the engine to a ST type head ?
