Spin on oil filter for Changfa clones?

How can I add a standard automotive spin-on oil filter to a Changfa style clone? Also, anyone have a source for the adapter plate for a remote mount radiator? George at Utterpower doesn't offer them for sale anymore.

We need to know what make and model of Changfa style engine you have.

One is a Xingdong ZS1115ND driving a 12kw generator head. I also have a Changchai S195NM driving an 8kw head. My friend has a Changchai S1100NM pushing 7.5kw.

With The S195 there is a oil line going to the head. These engines have very high oil pressure because they have no pressure relief valve anyplace. The simplest thing to do is cut the oil line near the head and install a tee bypass fitting with a pressure relief valve so the pressure can be regulated to around 60 psi. Then run the bypass oil through a bypass filter and return the filtered oil back in the crank case by drilling and tapping a fitting in the access plate.

There is a way to make a full flow filter system on the true Changfa engines but that is very involved by plugging an oil gallery, tapping into the oil pump and than re-routing the oil in the block.

Personaly I would try a bypass system.

I use a bypass system on my F-250 Powerstroke and love it. How can I do that to one of these engines? Small recirculating pump from the drain?

Ah yes... for the 195. I still want to learn about doing the same on the 1115.

The 1115 has an oil line going to the head. And it has no pressure relief valve, so is can be plumbed like the 195.

I just thought of another thing. Instead of cutting the oil line going to the head, remove the Pipe Connecting Bolt on the head and use a banjo fitting setup. That way the oil line can be left alone. Here are some pictures that will help.

or possible even a pressure bypass. When these things are cold, they can build some impressive oil pressure, up to 300psi
IIRC. I looked on the website and couldn't find anything, possibly it's on the Utterpower CD.

PS... I run my small chemical company off the grid using biodiesel and heated waste veg oil. Right now I'm using a 6kw Mitsubishi 3 cyl. light plant (trailer mounted construction lights) but am preparing to use my 12kw Changfa clone, capturing the heat for biodiesel production and sound deadening with an insulated doghouse. I'll be doing all sorts of experiments and will share it with the group.
