I quieted ours down by adding 50' to the power cord. ;D

But didn't that make it noisier for the neighbors?:)

Ya, but that's a plus too, dont like them. 8)

Must admit, my first thought when I saw the heading was "Yeah, turn it off, that'll quiet it down a bit!"

It's not bad, but if I were to enclose the engine, I'd want NO sound escaping, which is quite a hard thing to achieve whilst maintaining maintainability, safety, engine cooling, etc.

Reckon I'll just get used to my Lister put-putting away. None of this rev-it's-tits-off chaaagfoo nonsense  ;D
Cheers!

Now that I have one of each, I'm trying to decide which one to make the primary back-up source for when the sun doesn't shine. The engine room is located right next to the house. The extra power and electric start would be nice, but again I do like that chug, chug sound of the Listeroid.

Actualy our gen shed is about 75' away from the house and behind the shop building. We cant hear it when the windows are closed . Ours is strictly back up power.

that seems nice way to silence rattling things like changfa. or mother in law.. i was thinking to use concrete plates around changfa in my excavator project. and also sound insulation fabric inside to stop my teeth falling out. it makes good counterweight too.

Distance works, but is a drag at night in the rain or snow! No remote start/stop on a listeroid. The generator at my previous house was 250' away. You could barely hear that Onan RV generator.

Yeah, but I wouldn't want my listeroid in the house!
