Looking at the performance curve it looks like 2400 rpm should be fine.

I will need to get the digital tach out and do some tests to see how smooth it will run at that rpm.

That starter ring gear equipped flywheel that doesn't work to make your fingers into hamburger is a nice feature.  I had a run in with my 1115 that was serious but could have been a lot worse.  Nice engine!

Thanks rcavictim,

The only place where you can get your fingers ground up is where the Stub Shaft mounts. Any other place it is almost impossible to get a finger near the flywheel, fan, pulley's and belt.

I understand what you wrote about the 1115 flywheel. Having an S195 without guards is very dangerous. I was always nervous being around it when it was running. It would not take much to get seriously hurt on one of those engines.

I sure don't let the grandkids even near mine when its running, little fingers can be a lot faster than my old worn out reaction time!
Matter of fact, I don't even run it while they're here.
Seems the older I get, the more danger I perceive.

Ron,

You are correct,

My daughter does not get near any of my engines when they are running. She knows to stay away from them and understands they can hurt her.

Just because the EA330 engine has guards, that does not mean you can have your hands all over it when it is running. I still follow safety proceedures.

I run 2200 rpm  on my EB300. It is both peak torque and best fuel consumption RPM.  Been doin that  for 3 years or so. Call it about a pint an hour or so.  Pretty thrifty for the charge I get out of it. I use a Tiny Tach.

I run about twice each week, November to mid March. About 3 hours at a stretch till I reach float on my battery bank (420 AH at 24 volts). March till November I get a full solar charge each day.

I learned the hard way, I will carry to my grave a  scar from dropping a 1/2 open end wrench into the  running open belt of an air compressor
I cobbled up years ago. But for the Grace of God, I would be dead.

vdubnut62,

Some of us get a second chance in life and the best thing we can do is learn from it. Also help people so they don't make the same mistake we did.
