Kubota 05 Series Spec's

Once you think you understand the makeup of an engine than you find somthing else about them.

Kubota advertises Peak torque curve for the 05 series engines at 2200 for 3000 RPM engines and 2400 RPM for 3600 RPM engines.

They do not list peak torque curves for the BG series engines.

But here is the kicker. The Kubota D1005 engine I have is Spec'd for Bobcat. And the engine is a 2003 year. In the Kubota service manual that is for my year and serial # say's the engines that run at a max operating speed of 3000 rpm have a peak torque curve of 2000 RPM.

I remember that my older 2002, Kubota B7500 tractor had more low end torque than the newer 2006, B7510 tractors. It is my guess that when they went from tier 2 to tier 3 the torque curves changed a bit.

If this finding is true, I think the torque for the Tier 2, 3000 RPM, 05 series engines will be a bit more efficient than tier 3 and up engines.

I'm pretty sure my engines are D905-E does that mean they are the 3600 RPM version?

Hi RJ,

The E means the engine is 1994 or newer. My engine also has an E. All E engines have an improved combustion chamber design. I would not loose any sleep over wondering what spec'd  engine you have. The only differance in 3000 rpm and 3600 rpm engines is timing. And that can be changed pretty easy.
Pump and injector pressures are the same. So it is pretty easy to dial these engines in for an application.
The more I read about these engines the more I love them.
