Another Yanmar build thread

Hello everyone! I am a newbie to the site, but have been lurking here for some time before registering. I am very thankful for all the information I have learned here!

I have wanted to build a backup generator for my house for some time now. I originally wanted to use a lister or listeroid but finally gave up on that idea. I was reading here and came across some of the other posts on Surplus Centers Yanmar engine. I finally decided to bite the bullet and buy one. I will post progress and pictures on here to share with everyone else.

I recieved the engine and so far it looks great. As others have posted, it seems to be clean and a well made little engine. I have did a little research on wiring the fuel shutoff solenoid. I ended up calling Woodward "the maker of the solenoid on my engine" for some help. They told me the black wire is ground. The red wire is the "hold" wire and needs to be hot whenever the engine is to be running. The white wire is the "pull" wire and is to be hot only for 2 seconds to pull the solenoid back. He told me any longer and the solenoid will "prematurely fail." Just a little information for others with this engine.

Also, has anyone found a service manual for the 2TNV70 engine online??

What you doing for the control side and which gen head are you going to use?

Here is a stub shaft like I am planning on using to couple to a driven shaft supported by pillow block bearings. My pulley will then be driven by this shaft so that there is no sideload on the engine bearings. "I stole this idea from flywheel's Cat project. Thanks for the great idea flywheel!"  I plan on having a "adapter" machined that will fit into the recess on the back of the stubshaft and then the other end will fit into the recess in the center of the flywheel, thus centering the stubshaft on the flywheel. I can then drill holes to align with the threaded holes in the flywheel. What do you guys think?? Will it work??
