Tax Credit For Solar

I just paid a guy to use his license.  I regarded it as part of the price of getting the grant and credits.  The Fed and State tax credits for Solar do not require a licensed installer but the our county and hence electric utility does.  In our county, no license = no permit for electrical - even homeowners.

I spent a year on this project.  And I learned to overstate everything so I wouldn't need a permit for phase two.

I did something similar. Paid an electrical contractor to give install advice for code compliance and assist me with placing the panels on the roof. Cost 16 hours of his time and was well worth it.

It sounds like what you have described is a legitimate school - I was sorta hoping for a "diploma mill"!  <grin>

LowGear & Tom:

I guess that is a possibility but I'm in a kinda technologically impoverished area, and I wonder about the ability to find a hired ruber stamp to handle the paper work - I guess any thing is possible, all it takes is money!  <grin>

I'm just kinda hard headed and I want some things the way I want them because I want them that way - that atitude has never seemed to fit real well with a highly trained (last week he couldn't spell technician - now he ARE one!) technical person who is happy to open the book, supplied in his recent course, and show you how it has to be done - maybe I'll get lucky and find somebody who I can work with - or maybe I'll just miss out on a few bennies!  It goes against my grain to walk away leaving money on the table, but it goes against my grain more to do something that looks wrong to me because "That's the way we were taught to do it!"

Nothing is ever easy - with the possible exception of me - but that's another story!  <grin>

Thanx for the input!
