Update on some of my projects

Hey guys,

Just giving an update.   After my 6/1 had a big-end failure and rebuild last fall, everything is running great.   We've been having intermittent rain, so it still does some battery charging.   Up to about 600 hours total on the engine so far, and maybe about 300 hours since the rebuild.   

Currently, I'm working on a automatic start system for it.   I had an aluminum adapter ring fabricated to attach a Chevy 350 flexplate to the backside of the crank.   Then I had a marine starter rewound.   The starter needs to be attached now.   I had an electronic engine controller all wired up, but it had a defective internal starter output.   Waiting for another one from Tom.

Over the past few days, when I had a little free time I've built a workbench in the new house garage and trying to organize the garage a bit.   Here are a few pics:



Notice I drilled 3 rows of holes in a  2x6 at the back of the workbench for screwdriver bits, drill bits, pencils, etc.   The width is 24" of 3/4" plywood + the 2x6, so about 29" to the pegboard.    I've only drilled out a 4 ft section so far but can always do the other 8 feet later.



Not bad organized on the other side of the garage, considering some of the stuff still has to go upstairs, and the wood on the floor needs to be sold or put in the shipping container.



Yesterday, I started building a goat shelter and got some estimates on a fence because our family is excited about getting some more animals.

I enjoy seeing what other people are working on. Wish I could go back and have a do over on our house build. And why would you get critters for fun? When I stop farming the last thing I will want is a critter to look after. Not even a goldfish or one of those fighting fish in a tea cup. I know it is fun to have animals around. I am sure if all of our critters left the farm I would miss them, or not.

I've lived in this house for 10 years, I still don't know what the garage floor looks like.

I just got tired of having tools laying around everywhere.   Found out I was buying doubles of stuff.....

Let's hope you're not storing both (or as time goes on all three or four) things in the same location.  Is there anything more mind blowing than owning three of something and not being able to find even one.  Redundant storage spots increase the odds of finding it.  It's also good justification for buying the cheapski and the nice one when you're picking up that most needed tool.

I thought that too, so I put up motion activated cameras. Turns out it was me all the time.
Now if I can just remember where I live........

My dad always tells me (he's almost 90 now, so that's a frequent event) that when he started helping his dad on construction sites, his dad always told him, "Never lay your hammer down.  It goes in your tool belt or toolbox."  When he would forget himself, and his dad had the opportunity, he'd hide his hammer.
