Upcoming Sept 7 & 8 2019, Northern California.   95490

The Roots of Motive Power steam museum here in Willits   https://rootsofmotivepower.com/

Estep 6 cyl diesel

it's job, was to replace steam donkeys and haul felled trees into the railway yard for loading onto cars for transport to the sawmill.

I did not get a video of it starting, it's an air start, and they had a couple tries before they got it going. Took half an hour to recharge the air tank for each attempt.

This last year, a fishing vessel sank at dock, with another Estep in it.  They salvaged the engine from the bay a couple weeks later and discovered it was submerged in the bilge for 20 years.  They were going to restore it, but now, just clean up and have it be a static display.

also on my youtube, are a couple other machines, steam roller, a geared mining locomotive

which has it's 2 steam cylinders axial mounted at a 45 degree incline on either side, like a Vee 2 engine.  They drive a longitudinal shaft which geared to the big driver tires.   Steam now has real torque !

It's unbelievable fun being here the days they fire it all up and show off the gear.

Thanks for the heads-up.

The old iron is really neat.  Works of art in their own way.

Always had a great time going to antique steam and engine shows. Lots of history. I got started getting an interest in diesels at a show in Connecticut about 25 years ago. That was when you could buy a used Chinese diesel for $50 at these shows.
Have not been to one in years. Sure miss them.
