I recently aquired a 3rd hand but nearly new Powerline 24/2 and didnt get a manual. Is there an online source for such things? Specificly I want to check my injection timing as it kicks the crank like a mule unless you REALY have it whipping over when you try to start it.

you realize that you "must" crank it through the first compression stroke or two

release both cylinders compression, crank it hard and flip one cylinder release while still cranking like your life depends on it.

only stop cranking when the thing starts to fire on that first cylinder.

if you try to spin it fast, and then flip the comp release it will kick back if you don't continue to crank it through compession.

btw, 18 degree's btdc is probably pretty close for timing

Thanks guys that gives me something to check out. My oldest son is 21 and pretty stout and had it going for all he could muster and it nearly broke his arm, I am pretty sure it cracked the bone in his forearm. With the small diameter wheels plus big bore there is no way you can get it over TDC twice, at least none of us here can. Just compression alone with fuel rack left off will pull you backward on compression stroke two. We have been starting it cold with the R180 and a belt. Once you have the oil warmed up it is much easier to hand crank and start. Another reason I wanted to check timing is it gets warm a lot quicker than out 6/1, not just a bit quicker but like many times quicker. Been having fun with it though since we got the racks and governor problems all ironed out.

Compression Release?  Hmmmmmm?  No, I won't ask.

Just so you know, I gimped around for a week after "trying" to start my Witte.  O U C H!  Holy Mother of irresistible forces.  A hair dryer in the intake for a minute and then starting it with dryer in there really improved things.

My ASHWAMEGH 25/2 is probably the same with a different decal.
It came new with 2 starter cranks, one seemed to have the starter ratchet pawl in backwards....
After nearly killing myself a few times I realized that they were not 'giving' me a fee second crank!
the big bore twin should be started by 2 people cranking at the same time.
I soon built an electric starter.

True enough about the crank pawl being reversible, I'm just sayin' that's how I found one of mine  ;)
