Hi everyone,

I made lots of progress on the Kubota Z482 Power Pack this week and I need to start working on the fuel system so I would like to start a new topic on ways to plumb a fuel system. I believe this will help others also.

The fuel system will be made up of the items below. And I am also thinking of plumbing the fuel system in the order numbered below.

1. 20 gallon belly fuel tank
2. Check valve?
3. Mechanical fuel pump
4. Fuel filter / Water seperator
5. 3 or 5 micron fuel filter
6. Return line from injectors to tank.

Fuel needs to be pulled aprox. 20" from the bottom of the tank to reach the fuel pump.

Please give your opinions. If you have drawings please post them.

Thanks,

Henry

1. 20 gallon belly fuel tank Try a boat tank they come in various sizes and shapes and you might find a used one
2. Check valve? I have never needed to use one
3. Mechanical fuel pumpWhen the machanical one went bad on one of my generators I used a cheap "NAPA" electric one hooked up to the start swith with a by pass switch to help with priming
4. Fuel filter / Water seperatorRacor make probably the best. I had a junked one that I know use.
5. 3 or 5 micron fuel filterSee 4 above
6. Return line from injectors to tank. I used  a copper line but rubber/plastic for diesel use would be ok on pressure on the return line

Fuel needs to be pulled aprox. 20" from the bottom of the tank to reach the fuel pump.

LowGear

I really like Chris's # 3 above.  They're so cheap and easy and use far less energy than a mechanical one and can solve flow problems that suckers have no chance with if located at the tank.
