VO powered Changfa 1100 CHP

Volvox/Changfa CHP unit. Vegetable oil fueled 5kw generator.
The video heading says "combined heat & power" but this unit uses and integral radiator.
(probably because it's a test unit).
Engine slowed to 1500 rpm. Still loud even with two mufflers !

Wow, that's noisy. I can only assume the silencers he's used are fairly rubbish, although they look the real deal. Of course, they could also be absolutely brand new - most silencers need a bit of soot in them before they perform optimally.

the unit in question was produced by a fellow forum member here.

there is nothing wrong with his silencers, i expect they are very good

what we are hearing predominately is the balance shaft gear train, the are quite noisy

in my opinion much if not all of the noise could be easily abated by returning the bypass oil via
a tube directing into the gear train, i just don't think there is anywhere near enough oil between the teeth
to quite the clatter.

anyway that is the direction i am going on mine, i can quiet the exhaust to whatever level i want, the intake is
easily tamed with a good resonator, which leaves two other sources,
one being the diesel knock and the other is that dreadful gear train clatter.

Sounds just like Walla Walla Xing Dong........ like you ought to run for cover 
Seriously, these things do have a lot of gear noise and diesel knock.
