The ST head doesn't seem to mind the imbalanced load after doing the BS-ST head mod and wiring the coils 180 degrees (vs the stock 90)  ;D

Thanks for reminding us about that Bshwartz.  I hope you'll be able to do a detailed "how to" for the white paper section soon!

BS-ST mod sounds interesting.  Do all the ST heads bring all the coil wires out?

Kevin, no they don't bring the coil wires out.  That is the point of the mod.  You need to open up the head and rip them out yourself!!  On my ST head (others may vary) it seems that the factory design was for 240 v.  4 coils, each producing 60v, in series.  To create 120v for the N. American market, they simply split the connection between coils 2, and 3 and brought them out.  That leaves two sets of 2 - 60v coils wired 90 degrees apart (next to each other) for two sets of 120v, or 240 if connected together at the doghouse.  The BS-ST mod splits the two sets further to separate the individual 60v coils to be wired together however you want.  ie all 4 in parallel for lots-o-amps at 60v, two sets of 120v, 240v etc.  The most important aspect that I've found is in rewiring the opposite coils (180 degrees apart) to still produce 120v, but it puts more balance to the unit when the separate 120v legs are unbalanced.

Clear as mud ?  :-\

Thanks Brett.  I looked through some of your old post after I asked.  That's about what I had figured out but thanks for clearing things up.  It's actually pretty clear now, so good job.
