Hello to all from the Skagit Valley, WA. My main prior experience is with solar energy ( yes really, no joke, in Western Washington where hydropower is King). This year my main focus is to retrofit a 30 foot 1991 Ford motorhome and 1977 Dodge camper van to be much more practical for full time living. I need to be capable of sustained off-grid energy production. I would enjoy hearing about prior experiences with RVs . I am learning about alternators and looking for reading material that summarizes knowledge. Am I the only one that finds Alternator theory slippery? There are more variables than I am used to working with lol. Someone, Jared, kindly showed a link to 'Operation of the Lundell Clawpole Alternator at High Power and Efficiency'. Thanks, that  helped. I'd like to share the DIY hydronic heating system (cogen ready) in my motorhome and ask which list to use? Thanks, Jeremy, aka JBak

Welcome Jeremy!  Hopefully someone has a better idea than I as to where your article would best fit, but I sure want to read about the hydronic heat in the RV.

Thanks Ron. I'm learning how to navigate the forum. There's a lot to read. My prototype DIY hydronic system worked fairly well and fine tuning is moving forward. I imagine there are others who have more  RV experience? There's certainly a lot of room for improvement in RV design.
I tried attaching a picture to a post about my Alternator but it was rejected as too large. So after learning how to crop it using my iphones tools it was rejected again. The phone is my only wireless Internet currently.

Hi JBak,

The reason your Iphone won't post pictures to the forum is because Apple hates people that can repair or invent work-arounds.  My first brush with higher education was at Skag Valley CC and I still remember Burlington kindly.  Welcome to the forum.

What kind of water heater do you have?

There is a photobucket app for the Ipad, not so sure about the iphone...  That is what I use with my Ipad.  I can upload pics and video directly from the pad to my photobucket account.  When you select a pic in your photobucket album there is a chain icon at the top that gives you several selections for pre-generated HTML code that are automatically copied to your clipboard when selected.  IMG thumb is my favorite option, once you select one, you simply paste that code string into your post and bobs your uncle.
