Pulley removal

Well my Chinese diesel generator has been languishing in my garage for the past year while I got around to making a home for it in the generator shed.  Well I did that, and I put the frame up on some rubber engine mounts and after setting a day, I am really not happy with the frame that it came on.  I was going to fab some steel replacement feet for the engine.  But the way it is layed out the engine and generator are bolted along one edge of the frame, so the majority of the weight is on one side.  SO I am going to fab a new frame for it that has the 4" raised engine feet welded in as part of the design.

The thing I want to do as part of the redesign though is to get the generator and engine more in line and the weight centered on the frame.  The pulley on the generator is stood off from the front of the generator about 1 1/2"  I would like to flip the generator pulley so the grooves are as close to the front as possible which would really help get teh CG's in line.

This pully has a key, but no other visible form of attachment(setscrew, locking collar ect).  Any idea on how this pulley is held in place. The keyway  does not appear to be tapered or the key driven in place.  There is no way to grab and pull the key anyway.  Is it press fit or shrunk in place?   Any suggestions would be appreciated before I loose the beasts on it:)

Thanks

I'm sure you looked in the bottom of the belt grooves for a set screw.......Otherwise......Hmmmmmm!

Yep, looked in the grooves...  I was expecting to find some somewhere, but have yet to find one anywhere...

The shaft should not be tapered, and if there is no Taper-Lock bushing holding the pulley then it may have been heated and slid onto the shaft.
You may need to do the same in order to get it off.
Heat....puller...heat...puller...
Maybe a couple of applications of penetrating oil before you start.

Then, after you get it off....chuck it in the garbage and buy a pulley with a taper-lock bushing.     ;)

You didn't say what kind of diesel you have, but on my ChangChi 195 the pulley is part of flange that connects to the flywheel with 3 bolts. So if yours is like mine you can't turn it around.

Not the engine pulley, that is fine, I need to pull the generator head pulley.  It is a TFDW  10KW brushless generator head.  i am beginning to think that it is indeed shrunk fit onto the shaft.  Havn't looked into a taperlock, but that would be nice.  I wasn't looking into spending any more, as I already had the steel for the new frame in the barn.
