Mecc Alte, Help with coupling conscerns

Hello everyone, I plan to build a diesel powered alternator set for charging my sometime in the near future, battery bank, it will also operate in power assist mode via a pheonix inverter, I have narrowed my search for an apropriate alternator to the Mecc Alte ES range, the ES20F- 130A, 160A or 200A which are 8, 9.5 and 11Kva @.8pf respectivly.
They are avr controlled, using Mecc Altes UVR controller, and should work well in conjuction with the inverter or if needed directly with the household electronic devices, if anyone has information or thoughts on these units or the UVR controller plese let me know.
I have chosen to use Mecc Altee again, as here, they are the most popular brand for the money, easy to get parts for and in all my experience with using them I never once had trouble.

So, My main question is in relation to coupling the unit to a diesel engine, I intend to use TWIN BEARING units, now I have done this numerous times in the past, with 4 pole 1500 rpm units, using either direct tyre couplings, or v belts which let me slow the engines down, BUT, this time the alternators are 2 pole, and have to run a bit over 3000 rpm, this is new to me, my main conscern is keeping the alternator balanced, has anyone run a system at 3000 rpm using belts and pullys, is this a bad idea, would a direct drive using a lovejoy be better, would a lovejoy last at such speeds?, would a tyre coupling be any good, as I have a few of them, and they cope with slight missalignments better, does anyone know how a tyre coupling would cope at this speed, all advise very much apreciated,
