Christmas Day power outage.

This is the third time I've had a Christmas day power outage in the last 20 years.  My whole neighbourhood has been down since 12 noon. Again my lowly standby set proves it's worth! We have 11 people over, The turkey in  the oven.

Damn, my power hasn't gone out once in at least 15 years!

I'm in Langley BC.

A freak windstorm knocked over a tree on to some lines around noon , just around the time  all the turkeys were going into the ovens. We were on gen set from 1203 to 1645.  The ladies cooked up a storm in the kitchen,   on my Lister engine electric power.

I had a 3500 watt oven and a 1500 watt toaster oven and almost all the lights in the house on, computers, fridges, christmas tree lights.... my ST5 head had no problems with the overload, and voltage in the house never dropped below 109v at 59 hz on either leg.

My Lister saved Christmas!  (-:

Great story Tim.  It is gratifying to hear about how the trouble some of us go to to build backup systems ends up saving the day once in a while!  Good job!  I'll bet you neighbors were impressed.
