Hi all this is my first post to your group! I have just purchased what is said to be a EB300 (from a military  application) and I am anxious to learn all i can about it. it is my first diesel of any kind and while I have an extensive mechanical and fabrication background, diesel is "uncharted territory" for me so I am sure I will have many Qs~

I have managed to get a pdf copy of the parts manual which covers EA300-NB1, EA300-N and EB300-SAE-2 the latter of which I am assuming my engine is. The serial number begins with E70 which is a bit puzzling, I had assumed it would be the basic model in the prefix.

Also provided were part numbers for service and user manuals which I will order very shortly. (I will share them if anyone is interested)

I plan to use it as a backup generator the head of which I have yet to obtain. As I plan to use it to charge a bank of batteries, I am thinking of using a HD alternator from a truck perhaps... (?)

Any input or specific suggestions are greatly appreciated  - This is a learning experience for me!

Hi Jeff,

I am thinking of using an alternator setup also. That is if I find a good inverter at a reasonable price.

Hello.

I have just posted my home-built EB300 (also ex-mil unit) / DC generator with parts lists and all.

It is a bit different in that it is a marine usage and also includes a water maker.  But perhaps you can find some good info.
