this is a 1974 tractor and it has a big problem with the 3 point hitch. it use to raise pretty good when first started up but after running awhile it wouldn't raise much.  now it will only barely raise when first started.  after running awhile with bush hog on it goes all the way down and won't raise at all.  when it gets hot it will not even raise the arms by theirselves.   anyone have this problem or know what;s wrong???

Sounds to me like your bush hog is out of helium.  ;)

Welcome to the forum.  Yeah, I guess this was sort of an initiation ritual.  If you stick around, and I hope you do, you'll find I give the old timers here the same kind of initiations all the time!

Very important to maintain the correct level of bushhog helium at all times!! ;D
I have a 420AN so it's not exactly the same but maybe close enough. (If you don't have an operators manual for the tractor this might be a good time to pony up for one.)
First make sure that the fluid is not being diverted to one of the remotes. Mine has 3 sets with 3 levers on the dash, and one of them will raise and lower the lift, I don't know the logic behind it. The lever to the right of the seat operates the lift also, and if the dash lever is in the detent position  the lift will not work.
The control valve on the rear has settings for draft, float, and a combination of other stuff. It's a little triangular thing with a plastic knob.
Make sure it's pushed in to engage with the slots on the mechanism.  Both of them.
Change the Hydraulic filter! Make sure that the fluid (or it could call for motor oil) is between the marks on the dipstick.(It screws into the tank, should be painted white)
If all else fails I guess check the pump. If you need a rebuild kit I can put you in touch with a fellow in the Ukraine, he sells OEM Belarus
parts for cheap, Email him with what you want and he will set up a buy it now on Epay. I've saved several hundred dollars in the last couple years, but you have to be patient, it's a long way to the Ukraine.
If I can help, or confuse you anymore, probably it would be best to PM me ;)
