Welcome Bob, to this neck of the woods. Let me know if there is anything I can help you with.

Welcome back Bob.  Been pretty slow so you probably didn't miss too much.

thanks guys!

as for the back issues, it is not holding up worth a hoot...

i can do some light work for an hour or two and then i can't hardly walk, stand or even sit comfortably
if i try to do moderate work for an hour i am down for 3 days!

i feel like i am 90 years old, however if i recalibrate my expectations, plan well, and take my time, it may well be that i can get
some of what i would like to do done.

as the old saying goes, things always seem to take twice as long and cost twice as much as you plan for...

in my case the latter remains true while the former is likely 4-6 times longer than my memory tells me it should take.

well back to the project

Well, it looks like I find myself jumping ship unexpectedly...gotta move my enourmous collection of junk and my entire shop. I gotta ask Bob, would you do the container thing again if you had to move all over? All my crap isn't going to fit in a Uhaul. ::) Seems like a tidy way to move a lot of little things and a lot of heavy things all at once....

if you have to move any significant distance, the container method makes the most sense to me.

if i had it all to do over again, i would plan a bit more and get my weight distribution in the container worked out
better. i ended up being overweight on the rear and light up front which caused me a lot of grief.

a 53 footer can handle about 43k lbs if loaded properly and be legal to haul in any state with an 80k lb limit.

i went with a high cube which is 6 inches wider and about a foot and half taller than a standard container.  the height probably
isn't as useful for shop stuff but the added width makes loading palletized iron much easier.

back to the remodel of the house now, about done with the bathroom.  next on the agenda is my shop!  yahoo!  just need to find some
young "volunteers" to get the concrete work and other heavy work done.
