Ok well I have been talking to Mark W about this lot of engines and we came up with a very good idea that would be great for anyone wanting to purchase one of the engines in question. It might not be a good solution for someone wanting to buy and resell them but I guess getting these engines over here is the most important thing. Now first I really hope this will not affect the container I have been working on and so many people are depending on to get thier engines. Also I in no way will recieve any compensation for anything the sellers may make on the sale. I mentioned sellers because there are now two people intrested in providing engines and there might even be 2 twins.
Here is how it is going to be set up. Mark Wilkiinson and Pete and possibly Ade will get some still shots and a video of all of the engines that are to be sold with serial numbers listed to keep make sure the right engine goes to the right buyer. The auction will be sealed bid and after a given time frame the bids will be open and the buyers will be notified. The buyers will be responsible in sending the money to Mark or Pete and pay pal seems to be the best I have found for small 1 time purchases like this. Then the seller will contract a container to ship the engines to Dodge City where I will assist the buyers in getting the engines shipped to them at the buyers expense. This will be just like buying off of eBay. Now if you are already involved in the container shipment it will not have any advantage to want to add them to the container since this group of engines will probably be shipped sooner since there are quite a few people involved in the first container are getting engines from Mark Le Ritche and it will not ship until everyone has their engines. I will need to check with the forum just to make sure it will be OK to do something like this and I would think the sellers might make a small donation for using this forum. I will post more in the near furture after I make sure the forum is OK with this. Mike DD

There has beeen quite a discussion about these going on I thought I would pass on here what the sellers will probably be offering towards the sale of these engines

Tim,                                                                                                                                                                              you have aired what I consider to be a problem regarding this venture also another of which I was unaware,  now its my wish to realise the best price possible for Petes and my engines and expecting buyers to send monies on trust to someone they only know of through a forum may prevent this, converslely it would be unwise of me to pay to send engines out to people I only know of through the forum and my collective risk would far outweigh any buyers individual risk.
A way around this would be some kind of bond comprising of a percentage of the total cost, held by someone who is beyond reproach and only payable to me when the container seals are broken and the contents verified.

The fact is that its impossible to to run this kind of venture and keep everyone happy and am sure that if I was to say that an engine had a snapped con rod then someone would opine that it was far more broken than that.

I wish you the best of luck and agree that this could make a group of people very happy to own an original Lister.  Although I still don't understand your motivation....
Tim you answered you own question. It has always been my goal with my venture and this venture to make it possible for allot of people to own a Lister.

Mark as for the paperwork I will take care of this part for you. After all sales are final the buyers can email me because I will need their addresses and I will fill it out then air mail it to you so it can go in the container like a manifest, this is what we are doing. The code Tim speaks of states these engines are for agriculture use. We decided it might be a little far fetched for the custom agents to believe.

Mark we have something over here known as escrow agents. This is what the money could be placed in and it will be secure. If you would like I could see if my bank would do this then in the end all of the money could be wired to you at a lesser rate than pay pal. This is just not worth it for a couple thousand dollars. Keep me informed of what you need me to do. Mike

Mark I checked with my bank and I will have to find an escrow agent. They are not part of a bank. I will work on that next week to see what expenses are. My banker said it is charged on each transaction. I think that means each time they send money out. So it would only be once. Mike

Mike.
Thanks for that.
Assuming these escrow agents are bona fide then it sounds as though this could be the way forward and help assuage the doubts of prospective bidders.    Its always better to build trust slowly but thats impossible in this situation and the success of this venture will depend upon everyone being satisfied with their purchase and us being satisfied with our $ return on our outlay.
Anyways enough talk I have some serious engine filming to do.

Mark.

So it looks as if there is any concern with the purchase of these that should be put to rest. I will locate an escrow agent to hold the money until the engines have landed. Now payment for the remainder of the engine will be required before the engine will be shipped. If you wish you can come to Dodge City to inspect the engine befor final payment but it will need to be soon after rhey have landed. Mike

Just FYI, I recently used an on-line escrow company, www.escrow.com, for an International transaction regarding an antique motorcycle. I found them quite reasonable and helpful to deal with. I have no affiliation with them. Just thought this might assist here.
