Sounds like I missed something here!  What was the problem post and why couldn't the offending poster just be warned about their behavior?  Also I haven't been able to find the Octogon for many weeks, was it removed or blocked from this site?  Why?  Are people really that childish that adults can't be trusted to make up their own minds about certain subjects?  It would seem easy to just ignore something that was too complicated to get your mind around or if hopelessly stuck about something just agree to disagree and move on!.  I also do see Bob's point about wanting this forum to be taken seriously and I agree with that goal but I think that as long as people who were way out of line could be reminded to be civil and move their posts to the Octogon or wherever I don't think it reflects badly on the SOMRAD folks.  The freedom of self expression is one of our American values, right?  If I only have time to check one website on a certain day this one is my first choice and I really appreciate all you guys no matter what  ;) !                        Leland

Yes!
But if we don't have a place for freedom of expression then we simply cannot be taken seriously.  Is this site based in North Korea or Iran?  This is one of the paradoxes of western civilization.

A more important question that needs to be re-asked is "Can the SOMRAD group stand on its own without the energy of the original group?"  Will this need to be "correct" and "proper" so the SOMRAD group will be respectable and legitimate rob the original group of its fun and freedom that helps make it so successful?

Just so you know; I burned out on the octagon weeks if not months ago.  I find screaming at my lawn mower more fulfilling and surely will have more effect on the world order.

When screaming didn't work I moved on to flogging my mower  :o !                                         Leland

And I thought a flogging mower was one with a dull blade or an owner with too many beers to be brilliant anymore.
