I had one melt half way on club cart, CAREFULLY drilled and taped for bolt only going as deep as necessary. Worked fine, just take your time, go very slow if you decide to try this approach.

I noticed the Florida reference, where do you live? I am in West Palm Beach along with two others on the forum.

My run is 300 feet from the generator shed to the transfer switch, then into the house and the distribution panel. I was concerned about voltage drop at maximum power usage (50A - 240VAC). I used AWG #1 gage for the conductors and less for the neutral and ground (IIRC AWG #4). I do not regret spending the extra money.

Part of the #1 AWG justification was the permitting process for the tool shed with 100 amp service. I ran a line 50 feet from the genereator shed to hit the 250 foot line running from the tool shed to the house service panel. Thus, 250 + 50 = 300 feet run.

My suggestion is spend as much as you can on wire, over build if you can, do it right, and you'll never have to worry about voltage drops, poor performance, insulation fire, etc.

I and several nearby friends have been using waste jet fuel in our Listeroids since 2005 as our primary fuel source. However, supplies fluctuate depending upon service performed on various aircraft. Having said this, the problem is jet fuel is designed to burn clean: There is virtually NO lubrication components. We have tried various additives from 2-stroke oil, clean motor oil (perhaps the least effective, to Opt-lube (best). Think about the fuel injector pump compressing the jet fuel several hundred times every minute, up and down, wear surfaces, rubbing, friction, all with NO lubrication in the fuel. We believe this is the weakest point.

I have been buying Opt-lube by the gallon and mixing it in as I add fuel to the tank at 100:1. I also toss in from time to time small left over quantities of 2-stroke oil, clean / never used motor oil, and a few gallows of pump diessel before it is allowed to go bad. This has worked extremely well for us. Cujet on this forum is very knowledgable on this topic as well as listerboy.

On the ST Gen Head and in the generator shed I have a full instrument panel. This is just something I plug in 200 feet away inside the house to give me an idea of what is going on in the shed. I also relocate my Cent-a-Meter to power lines on the generator shed.
