Thanks Glort

I thing the manual may say but about how many run time hours between changes would ya recommend?

Mark

Not me, but John F says every 250 hours after initial brake-in peroid

Well, I received an all aluminum rad from ebay.

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/92-95-96-98-99-00-HONDA-CIVIC-ALUMINUM-RACING-RADIATOR-FAN-/360693357422?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item53faffdb6e#ht_4484wt_1006

Also ordered some 90 C snap switches from China. Hopefully a couple of these will turn on the fan when needed.

Still need to source a 7lb rad cap and an expansion bottle.

I don't have a clue about what brake rotor to use, so thanks for your suggestion. I seem to recall JohnF as saying that you could use one out of a Ford pickup. I wish I could remember the details as to which one.

Another person thought about sizing and "sweating" the coupler into the existing three-groove pulley. Not too sure how the cast iron would react to that idea or if it would fit at all.

Hi Group,

After two years of procrastinatiing and generally mucking about, I finally have gotten to the point of actually assembling my Laidong 1115 to my ST10.

So, I decided to go with direct drive coupling and have a 42mm 225 Lovjoy-type coupling on order with Central Georgia Generator.

The frame is welded up, the generator is bolted onto a moving plate and the engine is on. I still will need to shim and align, but here's the big question: What type of rotor is being used to machine the coupling plate? I've previously asked the person who has made these in the past, but there was no clear answer. Any help would be appreciated. Also, what about the radiator? Is there an inexpensive after-market rad with overflow that people are using, or is this a one-off thing? What about an ATV rad: too small for the job?

Cheers,

Rich

All I can say is good luck dealing directly with China through Alibaba.

I ordered a carburator for my chinese yamaha knock-off generator. I received a recoil starter and a lot of lip-service. The second time I ordered a carburator, I received a 5K AVR for a welder-generator  ???

Hello Group.

I'm still procrastinating over my genny build, but ever so slowly cobbling-up parts, etc.

A friend is supplying me with (freebie) 4" or 5" C-channel and I have the Laidong 1115 engine, ST10 Head, and control/breaker panel already.

Looking for plans, or frame dimensions so that I can start to fab something up.

Thinking about a direct-drive Lovejoy setup and cooling with a radiator (engine is already plumbed for that). I would like it to be somewhat portable/moveable (wheeled) so that I can bring it up to the hunt camp in the fall.

Any pointers or thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Rich

General Discussion / Re: Where are ya?

45kms east of Toronto, Ontario Canada, near Lake Ontario
Just received a slight dusting of snow today (maybe 3"). Most winters we get off pretty easy due to a favourable lake effect.

I was at work in Toronto when I felt the shaking around 1:55 PM EST, My wife who works 45 km east of me says she felt nothing (kinda like our wedding night ;D)

Hello Group.

It seems that JohnF's Laidong 1115 are in  ;D (just need to cobble-up some more funds  :()

Question: I have a ST10 head that I was planing to use in direct drive with the 1115. If running at 1800 RPM, is my head too small? (insert joke here).

Assuming that these are 20HP running at 2200 RPM, am I OK?

Cheers,

Rich

Thanks for the reply. I'm just east of Toronto, Ontario

Electric start it is then.....

The spares on their list would amount to an additional $450.00 (putting me over the magic number that I had in mind) so I will need to narrow the parts to down to an extra $100-150 or so

Hello Group.

I'm slowly going about purchasing a 10/1 direct from Anand (to Canada). I am on a bit of a budget, so I was wondering which spare parts would be considered as most essential to include with my order. Importing is something that is familiar to me, so this should not present an issue.

As an unrelated question, I am also considering the "electric start" option (+$365.00). Does this design create greater difficulties with vibration and  balance? Should I just dump this idea? Thought?

Cheers and thanks in advance,

Richard
