HI. The fuel filter is clean, Ive heard that the flywheel can move on the keyway, hence putting the timing out.
I am using this engine on a 4.5 kva generator and can use it but have to adjust the throttle manually before the inverter drops out, once I get the revs/voltage stable, around 230 volts, its fine and will stay like that until the batteries are charged, once I disconnect from the inverter the revs/voltage goes through the roof.
It seems that when the load, ie inverter connects the engine needs more fuel to increase the revs/volts but its not getting it so there fore the load pulls the engine speed down consequently voltage as well and the inverter drops out, then the engine keeps cycling connecting disconnecting.
Thats why I assume its the governor.

HI Jim and Startamatic. Well, ive tried every combination of spring attachment including the one in the manual (thanks Jim) Ive adjusted the governor bolt from beginning to end also setting it as per the manual with no success.
Could it possible be the timing on the flywheel, Tappets have been set.
According to Yanmar it wouldnt be the governor internally!!
I,m so loathed to putting it in a garage here as they charge a fortune and take months.

Hi Jim.
Yes Ive tried that, set the throttle lever to on and set the pointer to line up with the scribe mark on the body by adjusting the governor bolt, if I do this it wont start at all until I back it off.
Ive even spoken to Yanmar in the UK about this with no luck.
Its driving me mad.

HI. I'm  new to this forum,I live in Spain and having big problems trying to find a decent mech to help with my L100.
I'm certain I have a govenor problem as when the engine is on load it keeps over reving and droping out, my only way over this is to adjust the throttle manually before it drops out, the generator is running a Trace inverter.
Anyone know how to adjust the govenor on the Yanmar L100.
Regards Terry.
