i also have an '81 isuzu pup, it has a c223 in it and it has the ve style ip. i do not know of any adjustments on it besides the fuel screw and idle it may be clost to the same style as yours, the c223 is idi like the c201, we have a d201 still on the 102/53 trailer and it is very different animal from the c201. i wish i could be more help

200+ reads and not a single comment wow

look at the specs.... some yes you can others no.....all depends on the diameter of the coupler if my memory serves me right

so i need to pull my injectors.....easy enough but i need to find how to remove (to clean) the flame surpressors below the injectors. has anyone done this without destroying them? I cannot seem to find isuzu pn 9153150270 for replacments.

i looked at those murphy gauges i really like them never knew a gauge with adjustable limit switches existed....that would fix both issues for temp and psi a second temp gauge would fix the issue of delayed rev up to 1800rpm. my question is what is the failure rate on these gauges? it says they are self cleaning contacts but idk i would think i would just want these to drive a relay contact, and not a solenoid load.

fired her up again, i think i may still have a slight air leak at the IP bleeder, but have not seen a new bleeder online with the c201 parts. im hoping it is just using NTP threads so i can just get a petcock or block off plug to fix this problem.

as for the glow plugs this time i lit them up for maybe 10 secods im running a 50/50 mix red diesel/centerfuged WMO no issues besides a bit smoky at start buy it seems to burn well and run well.

i plan on purchasing fattywagons injection line heaters, heated fuel tank pickup and a heated fuel line. I like the idea of using coolant to heat the fuel pickup and fuel line. i have a ~60 gallon fuel tank. does anyone have any experience with these heaters?

really? no one has ideas?

So heres an update...i bought a new primer pump cost was $12.50 and they one of only 2 companies i could find parts for ripped me off on shipping....$18.50 for a 2 ounce part! kinda upset about that one but just watch it if you have to order parts for these engines.

so this engine has sat outside uncoved unran for about 7 months now. no fuel supply attatched. i removed and drained both fuel filters and reseated them. I had 5 galoons of centerfuged WMO and red diesel at around a 50/50 mix. it was kinda think still it was maybe 40 out. so i hit the primer about 50 times to get the filters filled and fuel up to the ip. i only had to crack the bleeder twice. second time i cracked the bleeder she came to life. runs great now. in about a week or two till go out and try to fire her up....hope all is cured

on a side note...i have tried on several occasions to start this c201 without using the glow plugs. I cant seem to get her to fire, once was even a +100 day. is this the case for these idi engines?

mine runs great once I get all the air out....whick includes cracking the injector lines also

I seem to have good compression but idk never tested it

I got my refer unit for free as they got tired of dumping $ into the cooling side.

so I have a isuzu c201 with a 24Kw 2 bearing ST gen head. I am looking to utilize the temp sender (switch?) and the oil pressure sender (switch?) to create a low oil pressure auto shutdown control and a over temp shutdown control. i figure the low oil pressure is easy enough I just wire a relay with it and the fuel on/off solenoid and maybe the same with the over temp?
I had to scratch my head at if there is 0psi oil pressure how do i overcome the fuel being shut off....i figure a push button momentary switch I can hold till the oil pressure starts to come up.

any problems in my logic here? what have you done? what are your ideas?

I would also like to insert an auto control to change the engine RPMs from idle to 1850 at a specified oil or collent tempature. one that is not overridable. resone being I want to make sure the engine is warmed up before speed or load is applied to it.... this is especially important to me as i live in Colorado and ive seen just this winter -30f temps! and im impatient!

thanks

the c201 engine's had a timer function, and some had a push button for the operator to
do the timing

the basic time under 70deg f was 45 seconds and if it was below freezing they called for up to 2 minutes of preheat.  so 2 minutes might not be a problem but...

longer times are very hard on glowplugs

and their ends have been known to fall off!

then they get caught on top of a piston, or under a valve, and you have problems

wish I could find a timer like that the refer i pulled my c201 did not have any controls like that for the plugs it was just a toggle with the starter switch

i did forget to mention im not sure if this matters or not tho, my fuel filters are BELOW the lift pump and IP. I dont think this would matter but every refer unit i see has the fuel filter assembly above the IP....I guess maybe less chance of air bubbles forming in the fuel system?

My C-201 had an air leak, It ended up being just the "Primer" pump. Much less expensive than the "Lift" pump, and
installs in minutes.

Have you checked the Primer. My "Bad" one had aot of sop in the hand pump shaft. I could stop the return line bubbles by
moving the handle around and holding in the sweet spot.

i tried swapping primer pumps my roommate has a 108"x53' with a c201 upfront it must be a new version of the c201 as mine like yours is the older version his lift pump is not painted as the ip is.

anyways long story short the swap didnt work. the copper gasket at the base of the primer pump is impossible to find!!! ive looked high and ow and cant find a copper washer to fit as it has the small recession the copper washer sits in, so i dont know if its that or the actual primer pump.
