Title: Installing higher quality bearings in the ST gen-heads.
Post by: Henry W on September 24, 2009, 05:10:02 PM
I thought I might as well start somthing here so here goes.

I like to get the balls rolling on what high quality bearings some of you might of used in the ST gen-heads and how they are lasting under use. What might be best quality for a decent price and where to buy them. Another thing is the installation of the bearings. What to look for. And tips on replacement.

I like SKF or FAG  in 2ZZ C3 or 2RS C3. I bought all my sets in ebay. I did it first on my ST3 to get some experience and wasn't bad. I would try to get some time after hurricane season end to do it in the ST10.   ;D

I got my bearings from:
http://www.shoupparts.com/
They're down the road 20 mile, cheap and good, they do tons of shipping.
The bearings I got were from China but good quality, not many hours but no problems yet. Big difference from the open bearings that came with the ST.
I do use them on all my other equipment with good luck.

Pretty neat site. I will need to spend some time and go through it.
